Summer mornings 2010

Just got a round to looking at some of my images I made on Sunday morning. Sarah had to open so I got up too and headed out at 5:30am in search of some Dragonflies and Butterfly images... And this is what I got (also see picasa/flickr albums below)...

The light was perfect soft from my back on the subjects... The morning was cool with dew drops on the grass and the air smelling and tasting like fresh summer fruit ;-)

Remember soft natural light and spending hours with your subject is what makes good images, so get out there and enjoy life...

Cheers

Fireworks & Independence Day

Fireworks & Independence Day
Well another year has come and gone. This year we decided to go and see the fireworks at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. At the same time we would be treated to one of the best orchestras in the USA the Cleveland Orchestra at their summer home at Blossom.

But back to some images... Due to the fact that I did not want to take my tripod to this venue with me because I just hat getting to a gate and then get told that I have to walk a mile back to my car to go and put my toy's away. Not having a choice but to should hand held I knew that my images where not going to be as sharp as the year before but was going to have fun with it anyway...
Fun we sure had after a great consent and a lovely bottle of sparkling wine the light show exploded right above our heads. It was amazing and funny enough I did not loose to much sharpness like I thought. I think it was due to us sitting right under fireworks display and the light was just right for me to keep shooting at around a f7.1 with a - 1/3 and a + 4...

Enjoy these few images and for more please see the album in Picasa at the bottom of this page...

Be safe till next time...

Last baby bunny snapshots

Last Bunny Blog
I was reminded yesterday after seeing one of the bunnies (I assume one of the bunnies) that was born in the back yard in my veggie garden. That I still had to post the last images of the bunnies as they left the nest and went on there marie way. So this is the last images/snapshots of them... We will have to see who returns next year to make a nest in the back yard ;-)

Day 7 of the new bunnies

Day 7
OK we have been a bit crazy on this side, but I am off today well I have to go in for 1.5 hours later but that is another story.

So here is an update for you on the bunnies at Stilmore Road on the seventh day. They babies are just fine. I think Simon might be taking on a parental role now (just joking).
All five (5) of them seem to still be alive and kicking... When I lifted the box up this morning you could almost not see the nest (good job mommy bunny).

But then I moved some of the grass and the fur and there they were. Wow so much development has taken place over the last three days. Just think if humans developing that fast LOL. No just joking!!! If we developed that fast we would only get to be around 7 years old. Hmm just think of cramming +_ 70 years into that. Sounds exhausting just thinking about it LOL.

Of to do some more studying now, but will keep you posted as the days go by (hopefully more often now that Monday is over).

Be safe...

Day 4 of the new bunnies UPDATE

Day 4 UPDATE
OK so we have an update for you on this evenings activity. The female came in and I had my camera on hand, so here we have some images of her.

In addition, I spoke of bunny ears in the last post but failed to include an image of their ears, so I have added an image for you.

Day 4 of the new bunnies

Day 4

So no predation yesterday!!!
All five of our furry friends are alive and well... They are changing so fast. They already have fur growing and their ears are starting to look more like bunny ears.

We have been nervous about the bunnies as we have not seen the mom since she gave birth. According to the literature the mom only visits at dusk and dawn to feed the babies so it is no surprise that we have not yet seen her...

Day 3 of the new bunnies

Day 3
No photo taken today, did not want to create more disturbance than were already created by the strong winds that blew the box all over the back yard at one point. I did finally tie it down with some make shift wire and shims :)

But the story of the day is that I saw two different predators around today. The first was a black crow that flew-up from the driveway at mid morning, as I came walking around the corner of the house. The second was a ally cat that ran away this evening as we came home. We will now have to wait and see tomorrow morning if there was any predation on the three day old bunnies.

So I guess I will be blogging early on Sunday morning to let you know where things stand...

Day 2 of the new bunnies

Day 2
Today we were waiting for the female bunny to show-up and come to and feed the pups. But we did not get to see her. We know she came due to the amount of new fur that was placed on the litter.

One of the five died, as expected it was the weak one yesterday. We have a big thunderstorm tonight and the make shift shelter/bunny house stood strong :)
So they survive one more day! I will see if I can get a image of the female for every one tomorrow.

Baby Bunnies at Stilmore

The New Bunny Home
We have been seeing our local bunny in the back yard for days now. The funny thing was that she was in the same spot all the time. We did not think to much about it until this afternoon when Sarah was leaving for yoga and saw her sitting there not moving. She went up to her and finally she hopped a few feet onto the driveway. To Sarah's surprise there were 5 baby bunnies!I then ran into the basement to construct a bunny house!

Now the Bunnies will be safe from you know who! We will be posting a few images every day to track their development. Enjoy...
